KRAS MUTATION ANALYSIS, TUMOR WITH EXTENDED RAS/RAF REFLEX
MessageIf the sample is negative for a KRAS mutation (GLY12ALA, GLY12ASP, GLY12ARG, GLY12CYS, GLY12SER, GLY12VAL, GLY13ASP), then reflex testing for extended RAS/RAS will be performed at additional cost.

Preferred Specimen
- Tumor Tissue from ColorectalCancer
- Tumor tissue embedded in a formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded(FFPE) block
- Core biopsy: 10 unstained, 5 micron thick sections,nonbaked
- Larger tissue sections: 3 unstained, 5 micron thicksections, nonbaked

Specimen Stability
- FFPE Block: No expiration, stored at room temperature.
- Nonbaked slides: 4 weeks prior to DNA extraction, stored atroom temperature
- Stained slides CANNOT be used for DNA extraction.
Methodology
Real Time PCR. The following mutations can be detected using the Qiagen therascreen KRAS RCQ PCR Kit: GLY 12 ALA, GLY 12 ASP, GLY 12 ARg, GLY 12 CYS, GLY 12 SER, GLY 12 VAL, GLY 13 ASP
Reference Range
Wild Type (No Mutation Detected). An interpretive report will be provided.
