Instructions
Testing must be collected in the POC lab at WVU Hospitals.
Testing must be collected within 30 minutes of Vitalant Scheduled pick up.
Samples must be received at Vitalant within 3 hours of collection.
Late arrivals will require re-schedling.

Specimen Stability
Stability: Unstable, test performed at reference lab.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted specimens,underfilled tubes, hemolyzed specimens, samples received without prior scheduling, samples sent through the pneumatic tube system.


Methodology
Platelet aggregometry with 7 agonists (3 concentrations of ADP: 20um, 10 um 5um) Collagen 2, Ristocetin 1.2mg, 0.2 mg) Arachidonic Acid

Clinical Significance
Many medications (e.g. aspirin, NSAIDs, etc.) can affect platelet function if taken 7-10 days before testing. Results may not be valid
when the patient's platelet count is < 100,000/uL. This test includes an interpretive comment prepared by pathology.
