MessageInvestigators at Ruby have obtained Institutional Review Board approval to treat patients with convalescent plasma. If you are
interested in treating your patient with convalescent plasma, you must discuss with the investigators (see contact information below) to
determine eligibility and to obtain proper consent.
Convalescent plasma is inventoried only at Ruby. Should a non-Ruby facility request convalescent plasma, please contact the Ruby’s blood
bank to coordinate delivery (such as through UML.

(BLOOD BANK) Processing Instructions
After thawing product please obtain 3 mL from each unit of plasma and refreeze to -18°C or less. Label with patient's initials, UNIT NUMBER
and your hospital.

Clinical Significance
Patients are eligible to receive convalescent plasma if they meet the following criteria
1. Laboratory confirmed COVID-19
2. Severe or immediately life-threatening COVID-19, for example:
a. Severe disease is defined as one or more of the following:

2. Severe or immediately life-threatening COVID-19, for example:
a. Severe disease is defined as one or more of the following:
- shortness of breath (dyspnea)
- respiratory frequency ≥ 30/min
- blood oxygen saturation ≤ 93%
- partial pressure of arterial oxygen to fraction of inspired oxygen ratio < 300,
- lung infiltrates > 50% within 24 to 48 hours
- respiratory failure
- septic shock
- multiple organ dysfunction or failure
