Synovial fluid  in a sterile vial or with lavender top tube containing liquid EDTA.

1 mL fluid


Other Acceptable Specimens
Dark green top tube or
Unstained dried glass slides appropriately labeled with 2 patient identifiers. Acceptable identifers include: name, MRN, birthdate, Accession or SID.


Transport Temperature
Refrigerated


Specimen Stability
Send to lab as soon as possible or refrigerate  
Refrigerated:24  hours


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Lavender Top Tube with powder EDTA interferes with crystal analysis, therefore can not perform testing. Clotted specimen
