This test includes a CBC with differential and pathologist review and interpretation. An additional charge may apply (CPT) 85060). Please see CBC for reference ranges.


Preferred Specimen
One 3mL lavender top tube (Adult)
Pediatric: One lavender top microtainer


Minimum Volume
Adult: 1 mL blood
Pediatric: 0.5 mL of blood


Other Acceptable Specimens
Unstained blood smear and a copy of Hematology reults with scatter plots.


Transport Temperature
Refrigerated (lavender top)


Specimen Stability
Ambient: 24 hours   Refrigerated: 48 hours


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Any slides submitted for testing or review must be labeled with two patient identifiers.  Acceptable identifiers include Name, MRN, Birth date, Accession/SID.
