Color, Character, Specific Gravity, pH, Protein, Nitrite, Glucose, Leukocyte, Ketones, Blood, Urobilinogen, and Bilirubin. This test will reflex to  a microscopic analysis if indicated. Reflex criteria includes Clarity other than clear, or positive protein, blood, nitrite, or leukocytes.

Microscopic analysis will be reflected in the following instances:
  • Characteristic other than clear
  • Positive Protein
  • Positive Blood
  • Positive Nitrite
  • Positive Leukocyte


Preferred Specimen
Urine, random specimen in a clean plastic sterile collection cup 
Pediatric: 3mL urine

Ruby only- Transfer urine into a non-additive yellow top BD vacuatianer tube, if available. A BD UA preservative Tiger top tube may also be used but is not preferred. Submit both the cup and BD tube for testing.
