Clinical Significance
Indirect measure of polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocytes, which accompany intestinal inflammation resulting from inflammatory bowel
disease, toxic or infectious enterocolitis, etc. Positive test results indicate presence of lactoferrin, a component of PMN granules,
exceeding 128 ng/mL.
