Instructions
Place in cytogenetics bucket near chemistry


Transport Temperature
Ambient or refrigerated (prolonged transport conditions)  NEVER FROZEN


Specimen Stability
Amniotic Fluid: Ambient(preferred),  Refrigerated (prolong transport) NEVERFROZEN


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Insufficient or contaminated sample, more than 4 days old when received in laboratory.


Methodology
Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH) to rule out common aneuploidies of Chromosomes 13, 18, 21, and X and Y.

Setup Schedule
Samples processed Monday through Saturday. Results reported Monday through Friday


Reference Range
An interpretive report will be provided
