Clinical Significance
Positive results are consistent with current or past infection with Toxoplasma gondii. A single positive result should not be used to diagnose recent infection. Negative or equivocal antibody results can be seen in acute or subacute stages of infection; neither rule out remote exposure. In these cases, follow-up testing in 10-14 days is recommended if clinical suspicion for infection persists.
