Pharyngeal eSwab (Copan, flocked swab with 1mL  liquid Amies transport, WVUM Central Supply Item# 65189, 50/pK)

 



Instructions
Swab the posterior pharynx, tonsils, and other inflammed areas. Avoid touching the tongue, cheeks, and teeth with the swab. Swab specimens should be immediately transferred to the ESwab transport tube, breaking the swab at the indicated score line.

Deliver to Microbiology lab immediately.

Non-pharyngeal source,different swab type, specimen container not labeled properly, broken specimen container, collection  ≥6 days prior toreceipt, frozen samples, transport devices not containing swab.

Polymerase Chain Reactin (PCR) using Xpert GAS assay and the Cepheid GeneXpert System.
