Instructions
Samples drawn from ECMO patients on heparin can be placed in Red Top tube. However, recollection will be required if the sample
clots.
Spin down and transfer plasma to a secondary aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection.

Reference Range
< 30 mg/dL
Critical Result: > 70 mg/dL


Clinical Significance
Positive results should be interpreted within the clinical context. This test is primarily used to screen for hemolysis during extracorporeal membrane life support/oxygenation (ECLS/ECMO).
