This test is indicated in patients with large pituitary tumors or patients where the clinical suspicion of elevated prolactin in high. It is restricted
to specialty providers including neurosurgeons & endocrinologists. Please order "PROLACTIN" for routine prolactin testing

Pediatric: One light green top microtainer

Dark Green top, Red top, or Gold top tube


Instructions
Sample must be centrifuged within two hours of collection. Serum/plasma must be removed from the red cells and put into aliquot tubes following centrifugation.

Clinical Significance
Some therapeutic drugs alter prolactin levels. Prolactin levels vary diurnally.
