Clinical Significance
Evaluating patients with signs and symptoms of a connective tissue disease in whom the test for antinuclear antibodies is positive, especially those with signs and symptoms consistent with Sjogren's syndrome or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Antinuclear sub-serology testing is NOT suggested unless a positive immunofluorescence result is obtained on initial ANA testing. Frequency of these antibodies in the non-diseased population is unknown and positivity does not necessarily suggest that a connective tissue disease is present

Performing Laboratory
