Minimum Volume
10 mL urine


Instructions
  • Collect a random urine specimen.
  • If WBC's are present on urine sediment, prepare slides by using a cytospin centrifuge. If no WBCs are seen, the eosinophil test can't be performed. A thin monolayer of cells should be observed on the slide. Dilution with normal saline is required.
  • Unstained slide should be prepared within 2 hours of collection.
  • Centrifuge urine in cytospin centrifuge at speed of 1000 rpm for 5 minutes.

 Ambient: 1 hour   Refrigerated: 24 hours 

Slide preparation within 2 hours provides optimal sample. Sample can be refrigertated for up to 24 hours at 2-8° C if slide preparation is not available.
