The sample must be DIRECTLY TRANSPORTED TO THE CHEMISTRY LABORATORY. DO NOT leave the specimen at the
specimen processing window; only the printed EPIC transmittal form. Results are immediately released to Epic on completion.
The name of this test changed on 03/10/2015. The previous name was "INTRAOPERATIVE INTACT PTH".

Preferred Specimen
One 6 mL lavender top tube
Pediatric: Two lavender top microtainers


Other Acceptable Specimens
Dark Green top, Red Top tube is also alternative specimen but it is not recommended due to lower analyte stability.


Instructions
Please notify Chemistry laboratory (7-4232) in advance for intraoperative PTH samples.
Sample must be centrifuged within one hour of collection. Plasma (lavender top tube) must be removed from the red
cells and put into aliquot tubes following centrifugation.

Analyte unstable, centrifuge within two hours of collection.  
Ambient: plasma 8 hours   Refrigerated: plasma 2 days   Frozen: plasma or serum: 6 months


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted sample.
