Clinical Significance
Bacterial 16S rDNA sequencing is a genotypic test used as an adjunct to the phenotypic characteristics of an unknown bacterial isolate in order to determine the genus and/or the genus and species of the isolate. Genotypic tests are useful in the identification of unusual and new emerging pathogens.
