Preferred Specimen
Kidney needle-core specimen with glomeruli present.


Instructions
Must be scheduled with Histology department, Monday through Friday 07:00 – 15:00. 
Call 304-293-6014. 
A pathologist or histotechnologist must be present at collection to evaluate specimen acceptability.
Kidney biopsy collection kit obtained from Pathology.

Specimen Stability
Unstable.  Tissue in transport media (Zeus, Michel’s) should not be held more than four days.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Dried or inadequately handled specimen, unlabeled or improperly labeled specimen.
