1.0 ml (1.0 ml minimum) citrated platelet-poor plasma


Instructions
Full tube, no partial fills


Specimen Stability
Unspun : 4 hours room temp; Separated from cells: 4 hours room temp, 2 weeks frozen


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Hemolysis: >500mg/dL hemoglobin, Lipemia: >1000mg/dL, Bilirubin: >30mg/dL.

Clinical Significance
The PTT is used for the evaluation of the intrinsic coagulation pathway (factors XII, XI, IX, VIII). Prolonged
clotting times may be observed in the following situations: deficiency of Factors II, V, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII or
fibrinogen, liver diseases, Vitamin K deficiency, presence of heparin, lupus anticoagulant or other inhibitor
