Reference Range
Below 1%: Prerenal disease; Above 2% or 3%: Acute tubular Necrosis or other kidney damage; Intermediate: Either disorder.


Clinical Significance
Fractional excretion of sodium (FENa) is the percentage of salt (sodium) filtered by the kidney which is excreted in
the urine. FENa is a calculation based on the concentrations of sodium and creatinine in blood and urine.
