Clinical Significance
This protein is an
acute phase reactant whose levels fall in inflammation, malignancy, cirrhosis of the liver and protein wasting
diseases of the gut or kidneys. Decreases are associated with liver disease and malnutrition. Levels of Prealbumin
increase in Hodgkins disease
