Instructions
Centrifuge within 4 hours of collection following the double spin process to produce platelet poor plasma. REQUIRED - Aliquot platelet poor plasma into 2 separate transport vials: 1.0 mL into one vial and 0.5 mL into a second vial. Immediately freeze vials in upright position for transportation to SQL. If other coagulation tests are ordered, freeze a minimum of three plastic vials. ***Centrifuge without delay. Transfer only top 2/3 of plasma (plasma must be platelet free) into a plastic vial (a minimum of 1.0 mL). If other coagulation tests are ordered, freeze a minimum of two plastic vials. Freeze immediately. Place in a specimen bag with a frozen label applied.
