Minimum Volume
A minimum volume of 0.5mL is required for differential.


Instructions
Specimen should be delivered to lab STAT


Specimen Stability
Storage Temperature:
Ambient: 2 hours Refrigerated (2-8°):
up to 24 hours Frozen: Do not freeze
Stability after Collection: Specimens should be analyzed within 2 hours of collection. 40% of leukocytes may lyse after 2 hours at room temp. Refrigerate if testing will be delayed. If refrigerated, bring to room temp prior to testing. Sample Retention: Body Fluid specimens are retained for 48 hours. Slides are retained for at least 1 week.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Specimen frozen or clotted. 


Clinical Significance
Differential counts and morphologic observations aid in identifying infections, malignancies, and other systemic diseases or
conditions.
