Adult: 3-6mL Lavender (EDTA Plasma)
Pediatric: 1.5mL Lavender (EDTA Plasma)

1.5mL Lavender (EDTA Plasma)


Transport Temperature
Laboratory Processing/Specimen Transport -
In-house (BUMCT ONLY):
  • EDTA specimen may be sent at ambient temperature, plasma must be separated within 6 hours of collection
Other sites:
  • Centrifuge EDTA specimen at 1200xg for 20 mins and transfer no more than 1.8mL Note: the absolute minimum volume acceptable is 0.5mL of plasma. After centrifugation, plasma must be sent FROZEN to BUMCT

Clinical Significance
A real-time PCR assay of extracted nucleic acids for the in vitro quantitative detection of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in plasma. Limit of Detection: 80 IU/mL Limit of Quantitation: 80-4.06x10e6 IU/mL.

This test was developed, and its performance characteristics determined by Banner Health/Laboratory Sciences of Arizona. It has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and drug Administration (FDA). The FDA has determined that such clearance or approval is not necessary since the laboratory is approved under CLIA for high complexity testing.
