Clinical Significance

This Glucose Tolerance Study is intended as the second part of the two-step strategy to identify the presence of diabetes in pregnant women between 24 and 28 weeks of gestation. This procedure is indicated when a non-fasting, 50-gram gestational diabetes screen is positive. This study is three hours in duration, includes a 100g dose of Glucose, and requires four separate blood collections: Fasting (Baseline), 1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours post glucose load.
