Instructions

Catheter tips are contaminated by the urethra when withdrawn; do not culture.

Transport Container

Grey top urine preservative tube or sterile leak-proof container

Transport Temperature

Room temperature if in preservative. Refrigerate if not in preservative and delivery to lab will exceed 2 hours.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Specimen collected in cath bag; material from Foley cath tips
