Instructions
Draw blood in a lithium heparin blood gas syringe (5 mL of lithium heparin whole blood) from an arterial draw. Syringe should be placed in wet ice slush immediately after draw.

Note:  1. Patient should be at rest at least 20 minutes before blood is drawn.



2. If patient is to be put on oxygen or taken off for test, blood cannot be drawn for at least 20 minutes. Oxygen therapy should be noted on report.
