Instructions

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:



1.  Optimal - Dry Nasopharyngeal swab in empty conical tube (kits available in Lab)



 



2.  Nasopharyngeal aspirate/nasal wash must be delivered to laboratory STAT.



Submit >1 mL of nasopharyngeal aspirate or wash in a screw-capped, sterile container. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.

Immunofluorescence technology to qualitatively detect RSV antigen in nasopharyngeal  swabs and aspirates.
