Message
Differentiation of Chylous from Non-chylous effusions: Triglycerides (chylomicron fraction in Lipoprotein electrophoresis) are elevated in chylous effusions. Triglyceride levels are <50 mg/dL in Pseudochylouseffusions. Synovial fluid Cholesterol (Normal: ≤65% of plasma level) and Triglycerides (Normal: ≤40% of plasma level) are generally significantly elevated in inflammatory and crystal-induced arthritis (e.g.: gout, Systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis)
