AMYLASE LEVEL BODY FLUID 

Message
Measurement of amylase / lipase in fluid is useful in confirming/ruling out pancreatic injury. Elevated levels may be seen in pancreatitis, pancreatic pseudocyst and pleural and pancreatic trauma, necrotic bowel and perforated gastric ulcer. Pleural fluid amylase is useful in suspected esophageal rupture (salivary origin) and amylase-rich pleural effusions arising from tumors (adenocarcinoma of the lung/ mesothelioma)
