If specimen is NOT set up within 2 hours it must be transported in special anaerobic tranport swab or anaerobic tranport vial ( FOR FLUIDS). Micro keeps a stock of these transport media. Abcess material or fluids may also be transported in a syringe if that what was used to collect the specimen ; MAKE SURE THERE IS NO AIR SPACE IN THE SYRINGE.
