Clinical Significance
Acetone is commonly used as a solvent for waxes, oils, rubber and plastics. It is also used in the manufacturing of rayon, photographic films and other chemicals such as chloroform. Acetone can also be found in paints and varnish removers. Symptoms of exposure can include headache, fatigue, excitement, bronchial irritation, acetone odor on breath, nausea, vomiting and dermatitis.
