Clinical Significance
DOG1 antibodies detect anoctamin 1, a marker of gastrointestinal stromal tumors that may be more sensitive (85-90% immunoreactive) than c-KIT antibodies (approximately 75%) or CD34 (approximately 70%), especially in the PDGFRA-mutated subgroup of GISTs. It is especially useful in the differential diagnosis with leiomyosarcoma and synovial sarcomas, which are nearly always negative for DOG1.
