Instructions
Please submit a total of 4 frozen samples and 1 refrigerated (for Aldosterone) collected as instructed:
For Dexamethasone testing: Draw a minimum of 0.25 mL serum specimen collected in red-top tube (no gel) between 8:00 and 10:00 am.
For Aldosterone testing: Draw a minimum of 0.25 mL serum specimen collected in a red-top tube (no gel) at least 1/2 hour after patient sits up. Separate serum after clotting. Transport Refrigerated
For ACTH testing: Draw a minimum of 0.5 mL plasma specimen collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube between 7:00 and 10:00 am. Transfer the plasma to a plastic, transport tube. If drawn during any other time, the reference ranges do not apply.
For Dexamethasone Suppression Testing: Ordering physician should administer 1 mg Dexamethasone between 11:00 pm and midnight. Draw a minimum of 0.5 mL serum specimen collected in a red-top tube (no gel) for cortisol testing between 7:00 and 9:00 am the next morning. Mark all tubes with time and date drawn.
For DHEA Sulfate testing: Draw a minimum of 0.5 mL serum collected in a red-top tube (no gel).
