Clinical Significance
Exposure Monitoring/Investigation Tin is typically used in the manufacturing of containers, coating of copper wire, in the production of other compounds, metal plating and as a soldering material. Tin and its inorganic compounds are relatively nontoxic; while organo-tin compounds, especially tri and tetra-alkyl derivatives present a more serious hazard. Symptoms of overexposure include nausea, diarrhea and a benign pneumoconiosis from inhalation.
