Clinical Significance
Routinely conducted at birth to determine the newborn's ABO/Rh blood type, screen for blood incompatibility via the Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT). If a mother is O-negative or has significant antibodies, these tests identify the risk of hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn (HDFN).
