Clinical Significance
Urine total volume is a key indicator of hydration and kidney function, with low volume (oliguria/anuria) often signaling dehydration, kidney disease, or obstruction, while high volume (polyuria) can point to diabetes, diabetes insipidus, or diuretic use, with normal 24-hour output around 800-2000 mL (or 0.5-1.0 mL/kg/hr)
