Methodology
Vitros 7600/3400

Reference Range
1.0-10.5 mg/dL; Critical Value: >12.0 mg/dL

Clinical Significance
Increased bilirubin loads, due to catabolism of fetal hemoglobin, and a deficiency in glucuronidase, result in a reduced capacity to conjugate bilirubin. Therefore, the major bilirubin fraction in neonatal specimens is Bu. In a healthy neonate, the conjugated bilirubin result is expected to be close to 0 mg/dL (0 µmol/L)
