Clinical Significance
Useful for diagnosing iron deficiency (anemia) or iron overload (hemochromatosis, liver disease, etc.), assessing iron use, guiding treatment for anemia, and understanding organ health, as iron is vital for oxygen transport (hemoglobin), immune function, and cell growth, with low levels causing fatigue and high levels damaging organs like the heart, liver, and pancreas.
