Alias/See Also
LAB00877
DESMO 1/3
DESMO 1/3
CPT Codes
83520 (x2)
Preferred Specimen
0.3 mL serum
Patient Preparation
Blood should be collected fasting or at least one hour after meals to avoid lipemic serum
Minimum Volume
0.1 mL
Instructions
Aseptically collect 5 to 8 mL of blood by approved venipuncture procedures.
Allow the blood to clot at room temperature (20-25° C) and separate as soon as possible to limit hemolysis. No anticoagulants, or preservatives should be added. Avoid using sera exhibiting a high level of lipemia, hemolysis, icterus or microbial growth. These conditions may cause aberrant test results. Do not use heat-inactivated serum as this affects test results.
