Patient Preparation
Fasting is not required. Patients should not take Coenzyme Q10 supplements the morning of the test. They may take other nutritional supplements prior to testing.

Instructions
It is preferred that the specimen is shipped the day it is drawn. Please wrap the specimen in foil or transfer specimens to amber tubes if they are not to be shipped the same day. Specimens must be protected from direct light.
1. Gently invert 5x (DO NOT SHAKE!).
2. Let blood clot for 30 minutes at room temperature.
3. Centrifuge for 10 minutes.
4. Store and transport refrigerated.

Clinical Significance
CoQ10 testing is useful for individuals on statin therapy who may or may not be experiencing myalgia symptoms, hypercholesterolemic individuals, and asymptomatic individuals at risk for vascular disease who may have low ApoA1 and/or HDL levels.
