Clinical Significance
For SARS-CoV-2 this test targets N2 nucleic acid and E nucleic acid but does not differentiate and other coronaviruses in the B lineage, Betacoronavirus genus, including SARS-CoV-1 may cause a false positive. Negative results do not preclude infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or other patient management decisions.
