Clinical Significance
This test is performed to determine if an infant is Rh negative or positive. It is usually ordered with an ABO to obtain the patien's full blood type (i.e. O negative). The Rh type is used to determine if a newborn's mother is a candidate for post-delivery Rh immune globulin injection.
