Clinical Significance
This code should be ordered for actual tissue specimens (for example, amputations or debridements). An anaerobic culture (CANA) is usually ordered in conjunction with tissue culture and a Gram stain will be done. A true tissue specimen will requre using a tissue grinder to make a suitable suspension for culturing. The patient will be charged a fee for tissue grinder.
