Clinical Significance
Results should be correlated with clinical presentation and other diagnostic data for the diagnosis of pancreatitis. Individuals with acute pancreatitis have significantly elevated trypsin concentrations. Concentrations in those with chronic pancreatitis are variable adn may be below, within, or above the reference interval. Trypsin concentrations are not diagnostic for carcinoma of the pancreas. Results obtained with different methods or kits cannot be used interchangebly.
