Clinical Significance
It is sometimes necessary to determine a more accurate total number of eosinophils per cu/mm of blood. A low eosinophil count is found in hyperadrenalism (Cushing's disease), shock, and following the administration of ACTH. An increased number of eosinophils occurs in allergic reactions, parasitic infections, brucellosis and certain leukemias.
