Limitations
Turbidity of serum or plasma (observable after centrifugation) will interfere with testing.


Reference Range

Reported as Negative, Positive, or Indeterminent for pregnancy. For Indeterminent results, repeat testing in 48 hours to confirm pregnancy.



Clinical Significance

The Serum Pregnancy Test is a qualitative test that measures the concentration of human chorionic gonadotropin in serum and translates the concentration to a result of Negative, Positive, or Indeterminent for pregnancy. HCG is a hormone produced in the body during pregnancy.
