Instructions

Specimens should be drawn at least 6 hours after oral dose and 4 hours after intravenous dose.  Digoxin Immune FAB (Digibind) therapy interferes with Digoxin measurement.

Limitations
The Digoxin Immune FAB (Digibind), which is used in the treatment of digoxin intoxication, has been found to interfere with immunoassay measurements. Digoxin measurements in patients that have been administered Digibind should be interpreted with caution.

Therapeutic Range:  0.8 - 1.9 ng/mL



Clinical Significance

Digoxin is a widely prescribed cardiac glycoside indicated in the treatment of congestive heart failure and supraventricular arrhythmias.  Digoxin measurements are used to monitor patient compliance and therapy, and to diagnose potential overdose.
