Instructions

CYTOLOGY ORDER - TAKE SPECIMEN TO CYTOLOGY



Transport Container

Transport in the ThinPrep collection vial or a plastic slide holder for conventional spray-fixed smears.



Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Unlabeled specimens will be rejected


Methodology
ThinPrep paps will be processed on the T2000 processor and manually read by the cytotechnologist

Setup Schedule

Pap processing is Monday - Friday 6:00am to 6:00pm



Report Available
Available upon completion of analysis, normally 1 - 2 days


Reference Range

Bethesda reporting format used



Clinical Significance

Cytology specimens are examined for benign, atypical and malignant cellular changes. Organisms will also be reported if identified during the process.
