Fresh serum drawn aseptically. No anticoagulants or preservatives should be added. No hemolyzed, lipemic, or bacterially contaminated sera. Store at room temp no longer than 8 hours, sera may be stored 2-8 C for 48 hours, otherwise frozen at -20 C

Reference Range

IgG and IgM - normals = <20, low positive = 20 to 30, moderate = 30 to 80, high positive = greater than or egual to 80. IgA = normal <12, equivocal = 12-15, positive = >15.



Clinical Significance

Used in the evaluation of suspected antiphospholipid syndrome(APS). APS is associated with a variety of clinical symptoms, notably, unexplained arterial and venous thrombosis, pregnancy complications, unexplained circulatory problems, thrombocytopenia or hemolytic anemia. Can be used in the diagnosis of systemic rheumatiod disease esp. lupus erythematosus.
