Serum (gold top) Tube: 0.5 mL; EDTA Whole Blood (purple top) tube: 2 mL
Instructions
Patient must have a Complete Blood Count performed within 24 hours before collection of Anemia Study with Interpretation.

Methodology
Colorimetric (Iron), Photometric (IBC), Chemiluminescence (Ferritin), and Electronic Resistance Detection with Enhanced Hydrodynamic Focusing
Setup Schedule
Testing set up daily upon receipt.
Pathology interpretation performed Monday through Friday within 24 hours of receipt except on weekends.
Report Available
Test results available upon completion of analysis. Pathology report available within 24 - 48 hours of receipt, Monday through Friday.
Limitations
Desferal (Deferoxamine Mesylate) can interfere with iron and Iron Binding Capacity testing.

Clinical Significance
The Anemia Study with Interpretation is a group of tests that are useful in determining the cause of anemia in patients with low hemoglobin and/or hematocrit. Test results and blood smear are interpreted by a Pathologist.
